IHG has signed a 343-room, 23-storey Crowne
Plaza hotel in Straits City, a 40-acre mixed-use development
located at the waterfront of Butterworth in Penang, Malaysia.
The expansive Straits City development, which
incorporates a variety of green technologies to promote more
sustainable living, is a 5-minute drive from Penang Sentral,
Malaysia’s northern transportation hub, and a 35-minute drive from
Georgetown.
Straits City will also enjoy connectivity to all
major roads and highways in the area, including the Butterworth
Outer Ring Road (BORR).

Eric Teng, CEO of Straits Developments,

Crowne Plaza Penang Butterworth Straits City adds
to an already impressive list of IHG properties scheduled to open
in Malaysia in the next few years, most notably, Crowne Plaza Kota
Kinabalu, Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Hotel Indigo
Kuala Lumpur on the Park, and Kimpton Kuala Lumpur.

The Crowne Plaza Penang Butterworth Straits City
is expected to open in Q3 2023.
