Fossil Group has informed that Amazon Alexa virtual assistant is now available on the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches. Here is all you need to know.
Fossil Group on Thursday announced that the Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch users now officially have access to the Amazon Alexa for Smartwatches app. As per the information provided by the company, on Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches, Alexa can be preloaded and paired with phones running the latest version of Android (excluding Go edition and phones without Google Play Store) in supported countries. Once connected, users will have options for accessing Alexa on their smartwatch screen-including both the Alexa Tile and the Alexa App.
You will be able to access Tiles quickly with a swipe left from the watch face. You can also access Alexa via a third option by configuring the pushers, enabling a single button press to trigger and launch the Alexa app. Both the Tile and the App will allow users to tap a button to talk to Alexa, with uniquely branded customization experiences for Fossil, Michael Kors and Skagen smartwatch users.
“The options for use are limitless and entirely personal — whether you use your Alexa for your smart home devices, music control, grocery shopping, Amazon purchases and more. Fossil Group looks forward to expanding the functionality of both the Tile and App,” the company said.
Customers can now have additional ways to customize their smartwatches to whatever best suits their lifestyle. Google Assistant will continue to be the default assistant on the smartwatch, and users will continue to press and hold the home button to engage. For consumers who do not use Alexa at this time, the tiles can be customized as usual to those most relevant to them.
Discussing the collaboration, Johnson Verghese, Managing Director, Fossil India said, “We’re thrilled to be announcing the expansion of our smartwatch features with the launch of Alexa! The smartwatch experience is built to simplify life for the user – infusing efficiency into everything from exercising to paying for groceries. With the introduction of Alexa, we hope our Gen 6 users find added convenience to their lifestyle without compromising on style.”
