Being new to the immensely popular word-finding game- Wordle, the struggle to solve the mystery and disclose the “Wordle today” is obvious. This daily puzzle appears extremely simple to play with just a few rules, but it demands the best of your cognitive skills to crack the code. Sometimes, Wordle just throws some out-of-the-box words that seem unrealistic, and finding a way to such terms is a great challenge and even frustrating sometimes.
Simply saying, you don’t have to possess a treasure of vocabulary to be a champion in this game. In fact, all you need is a mindful attempt, and nothing can stop you from
being a daily winner. We have got you a strategic approach covering all the rules and tips to act as your Wordle hint today.
Understanding The Rules
Let’s start with the basics and have a quick peek at the rules of the game. Here is what I played today, and this will be used as an example to understand the game:
- The game started with a blank grid of 6 rows with 5 boxes each.
- After filling a 5-letter word (I used “Story”) in the first row, the boxes turned into different colors- Green, Yellow, and Grey.
- Yellow, i.e., O and Y, show that they are correct characters but are in the wrong box.
- Grey ones S, T, and R symbolize incorrect alphabets and are not included in the word-to-be-disclosed.
- There is no green box yet.
- Following these hints, the next word to be chosen must have O and Y but not in the same positions as they are wrongly located.
- Then I chose a random word, “HOYAS”, which was supposed to contain O and Y but must not include S, T, and R.
A lesson to learn: If you’ve noticed, I made a mistake by again using “S”, which was surely not present in the final word.
- Luckily, in the second row, three boxes turn out to be green, which means they contain the correct alphabets and on the correct position.
- Now the task is somewhat easy, the guesswork starts, and brainpower comes to work to look for words that contain “OYA” in the center, and the remaining first & ending alphabets must exclude “S T R H”.
- That’s it! I just disclosed the word of the day, “LOYAL”
How To Strategically Play The Game
What Word Should You Choose First?
While many suggest words like ‘adieu’ or ‘audio’ as magical starting words, I would disagree with them. Being a regular player, I would say, start with anything you feel like entering in those 5 boxes: brave, dance, Fresh, Tiger, Grape, or whatever else on your mind.
A useful tip: While choosing your first word, try to avoid the ones with repeated letters. For instance, Queen, Apple, Broom, and Poppy (this one seems like a nightmare). The more the repeated characters, the fewer the possibilities to explore more correct availability of alphabets.
Following Up on The Response
If all the boxes turn grey (quite normal) in the first attempt, simply enter a completely different word containing none of the same alphabets in the top row.
Now, according to the given rules, follow up with the hints and go further to find a suitable word for the next row.
Time for another tip: As soon as you get green-colored boxes, grab a notebook and pen down the same pattern of the green alphabet. This way, your mind can easily process the possible combinations.
For example, I got “OYA” in green boxes, and I write it this way in my notebook: _OYA_
Then, I just have to look for the right characters, and unfortunately, there are numerous possible terms, including ROYAL, SOYAS, FOYAH, and so many others.
Now, this part is more of a luck part, and you can be as lucky as this:
<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>Got lucky<br><br>Wordle 830 2/6<br><br>🟩⬛⬛🟨⬛<br>🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩</p>— Mona Vij (@Monavij) <a href=”https://twitter.com/Monavij/status/1706740189157261580?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>September 26, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>
Or perhaps as unfortunate as this person who shared his funny yet not-so-lucky attempt. Despite knowing 4 letters, he wasn’t able to guess the right one (imagine the level of disappointment he was holding).
